Little Ol’ Me?! Again?!

LIEBSTER2

Oh, you’re too kind!!!

This is my third blogger award! Yay! It still AHmazes me when I get nominated for an award. That somebody’s in the blog-o-sphere and reading and enjoying what they’re reading and luv it sooo much that they nominated my blog for an award. So thank you so much for all your love and support and reading this fabulous chick’s blog!!!

So my gyrl by the Gravatar username of “Living&Learning” nominated me for my second Liebster award. Thank you sooo much! You can check out her blog How To Ruin A Relationship. Her posts may cause peeing- laughter and possibly a reflection of your behaviors in any of your failed relationships.

So here are my answers to her wonderful questions:

1. Maya Angelou said “I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way (s)he handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.”  How do you handle all three?

I don’t like rain.

I know it’s good for  the eco-system, but it’s not good for the look of my hair or eyeliner. I recently had to walk home in the rain. Uggghhh. That was a disaster. I was sweaty, wet, and my umbrella is this tiny broken little thing. And there’s this hill that I have to climb to get from school to home. GOD, I never want to relieve that day. Overall, I run from rain. Like the water drops are really acid drops. I wonder what that says about me? That I’m a primadonna? I don’t know…

Oooh, but I do want a clear umbrella. I need to do some online shopping…

I’ve never lost my luggage. Thank GAWD. I watch so many crazy TV shows I’d be worried that some psychotic scientist  would take my luggage and swipe for DNA and make a clone who’d try to kill me. My brain is… overactive, over-imaginative. I’d look calm, but inside I’d be having a Diva Fit. I wouldn’t be happy if I’d lost my luggage. My stuff is mine and the thought of some stranger having pieces of my things makes me shudder.

And I don’t celebrate Christmas. I can’t answer a question about lighting Kwanzaa candles either.

2. Greatest regret?

I’m not a phone conversation/ texting kind of a girl. I do it, but I like face time. A few years ago my best friend called me. A few days later, she had drowned. My biggest regret is not calling her back.

3. Something you would like to improve about yourself?

My sense of others. I’m working on my ability to think about others and their feelings. In one sense I do think about what other people think and feel because I care too much about what other people are thinking about me. I care only a little, but even that’s too much. I have to work on just being myself and comfortable- in an empty or crowded room. First step? Public dancing. I’ll work on my Cupid Shuffle, guys…

4. Something you’ve done that you never thought you’d ever be able to?

Insanity workout. Flirting. Graduating high school without having a Diva Fit on somebody. Hard math problems… Things like that.

5. Better to have loved and lost or to never have loved at all?

I think a little bit of both. It’s good to be in love, but sometimes you know you’re with the wrong person and that they’re no good for you. You should be cautious when it comes to your heart and who you allow yourself to fall for because you could end up really hurt. Sometimes it’s good to be guarded. So you should be cautious, but not TOO cautious. But I’ve never been in love. So I’ll wait to see if my opinion changes.

6. What is your dream career/job?  (Are you currently doing it?)

I want so many (accomplish-able, possible, definitely going to do them…) things. My love and passion is being an interior designer. I designed my room and I’m heading off to design college in September (whoop, whoop!). Fashion is also a passion. I LOVE shoes, and handbags, and over-the-top dresses. I plan to have a company that delivers my obsessions to women who will take that obsession, bathe in it, buy some of my merchandise, and wear it- wear it well. So… designing… and shopping. Both fields require designing and shopping. Those are my loves. But design, solely, is what I’m going to dedicate my life to because design changes peoples lives, makes them feel better.

7. Song you just can’t get enough of right now?

I’m LOOVING Me & My Girls by Fifth Harmony. They’re adorable and talented. I’m also kind of obsessed with my Florence + The Machine albums. I wake up to their music, go to sleep with the music, read to the music…

8. If you had known then what you know now…

I wish when I was younger that I’d known that I wasn’t a hideous troll. I literally thought that about myself. I wish I could’ve told myself “You’re valuable. Beautiful. So what you aren’t like the other girls?! Being like ever body else is so… BLAH. You’re a beautiful, sparkly butterfly, doll! Spread them wings!!!”

9. Book that literally changed your life?

I don’t think there’s a book that changed my life, but Does My Head Look Big In This? by Randa Abdel-fattah is one of my favorite books. It was nice to know that there was this other person (even if she was fictional) that was struggling in their faith. That I wasn’t the only Muslim girl watching Sex & The City and looking at boys and struggling with maintaining your faith and living in this very tempting world. It was nice to know that I was normal. The main character also deciding to become a “full- timer” and wear her hijab also showed me that I should be strong in my faith and not ashamed of it.

10. Most meaningful piece of advice you were ever given in life/love?

If you put God first you can be successful in anything and everything. And be stubborn in your unwillingness to do something that you’re not comfortable with and shouldn’t be doing.

I was also told that “You’re beautiful” is a weak line. Because I already know that. That guy has to come up with something better.

11.Were you a bad pick or bad picker in your relationships?

I haven’t been in a relationship yet. I’m very picky. And there’s no guy that’s cute or interesting in my life right now. I’m a very old soul though. And I know who I am and what I want. I’ll be good at picking the right guy for me. Unless it’s like a cute guy who speaks like French or Spanish  or Russian. For a couple weeks, all bets are off. Lolz.

So here are my questions for my nominations:

  1. Who and what has been your biggest inspiration?
  2. When were you happiest?
  3. Your best decision?
  4. Your first love? Anyone or anything. It could be that pair of Louboutins in your closet.
  5. The nicest thing you’ve ever done. And don’t brag, just explain.
  6. The nicest thing anyone had every done for you.
  7. Explain your most glamorous outfit that you’ve ever worn. Make it worth the read, doll! 🙂
  8. Favorite magazine.
  9. Tell me about your dreams/goals.
  10. Favorite piece of art.
  11. The thing that you thought was the worst thing that could happen but was a gift in disguise.

For my nominations, here are the rules:

  2. Answer the 11 questions you were asked and create 11 of your own questions to ask your nominees.
  3. Nominate 11 blogs of your choice: new, old, just found, following, or you think deserve some notice; and let them know they’ve been nominated!
  4. Show off the Award photo on your blog!
  5. No tag backs–meaning you can’t just re-nominate the person who nominated you.

I don’t follow many people with fewer than 200 followers which is what the award is supposed to be about- recognizing the fabulous under dogs, so I’ll have to use some of my old nominations.  So here they are nominations:

-M.

I’ve been nominated for (another) blogger award…

Liebster

Five awards in two days? She (meaning me) cannot handle all of this! OMG. I’ve been nominated for the Liebster Blog Award which I just found out is a way to recognize blogs who have fewer than 200 followers.  Liebster is a German word that means beloved and valued and I most definitely feel better after finding out I’ve been nominated for this award. Thank you so much Equestriangradstudent for your nomination! I’ve never visited your blog before, but I will most definitely be checking it out after your wonderful nomination! 🙂

So here are 11 random facts about me:

  1. I’ve recently discovered that I drive better in heels.
  2. Like my nominator, “Equestriangradstudent,” I’m a vegetarian, too!
  3. My favorite artist is Florence + The Machine. And for that reason, my mother is convinced that I was switched at birth, even though she listens to Kenny Rogers and watches the Andy Griffith Show.
  4. I woke up to Taylor Swift music this morning! Woo hoo!
  5. I won 4 ribbons yesterday in horse show! The first was a 4th place, then a 3rd place, and then a 1st place and then they gave me a “Reserve Champion” ribbon for second place over all. The judge told me I had lovely knees and the best quiet hands. Yeah, baby! And it was my first show ever!
  6. My newest fashion obsession is drop crotch pants, or as I call them “Genie pants.”
  7. My favorite movie is “Funny Girl” starring Barbara Streisand.
  8. I’ve always wanted a draft horse because they’re really tall and some look like they have on furry boots- like Snooki when she wears furry boots in the summer.
  9. I just started my first job! I work at a bank as an “intern” during the summer before I go to college.
  10. The best dessert I’ve ever eaten is crem brulee. My favorite meal would probably be an organic Amy’s Cheese Pizza and crem brulee for dessert.
  11. I live by quotes. My favorite quotes are four that I’ve posted on the blog:
  • Everyday is a fashion show and the world is your runway.
  • When you have come to the edge of all the light you have and step into the darkness of the unknown, believe that one of the two will happen to you either you’ll find something solid to stand on or you’ll be taught how to fly! -Richard Bach
  • Innocence: I am only stepping on your face because it lies in my path -Mason Cooley
  • I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a b*tch. You’ve got to go out and kick a*s. -Maya Angelou

And now here are the answers to the questions from Equestriangradstudent:

1. What was your very first experience with horses?

I can’t even remember. I’ve always had a love for horses, long before I was riding as consistently as I am now. At events and field trips, I    always wanted to ride the ponies/ horses. One of my first parties as a little girl was actually at the farm that I take lessons at now. All my little friends got cowgirl hats.

2. First horse you owned?

I’ve never owned my own horse. My mother told me that if I took my horse lessons seriously she would buy me a horse, that was until I decided I wanted to go away to college. I haven’t heard much talk about getting my own horse since. I do plan to buy some land and have my own farm, complete with plenty of horses (one of the mares will be named Duchess) and a hot pink tractor.

3. Your current mount?

*She Googles “mount”* I have no idea how to answer this question. Does this mean horse? My first idea was to say that I hate “leg- ups” because I don’t like being tossed in the air. Lolz. I’m sorry. When I become a more advanced rider I’m sure I’ll be able to answer this question.

4. Describe him/her in one word:

*Crickets* I don’t know…

5. The horse you learned the most from?

Lady Lightning. She’s taught me and is teaching me to be brave and tougher. She’s considered to be old, because she’s twenty- four and horses only live to about thirty,  so she’s very intuitive. If I’m nervous or don’t believe in myself when I ask her to do something, she won’t do it. She’s showed me that I have to believe that I can do something, and that I can achieve it and that it can be fun. She’s also taught me the art of nonchalant- ness and the value of being the sweetest thing ever…

6. Favorite saddle? Why?

I know you’re asking about specific types of saddles. I ride English. I’m not sure about the different  types of English saddles. But my favorite color is pink. If I ever found a pink saddle I bet you that would be my favorite saddle. Why? ‘Cause it would be pink. Pink is awesome.

7. Piece of tack you couldn’t do without?

???

8. Do you compete?

Yes. My first ever horse show was last Sunday where I won the four ribbons that I mentioned above. I never thought that I would ever compete or do any shows, because I just wasn’t interested in competition. But after that show and winning a first place ribbon, I’m really excited about competing more and moving up to more advanced categories. The one thing I’d never compete in is horse racing. I’d be too afraid of bursting the horse’s heart (which is a real thing). I love horses too much to do something that could be that potentially dangerous. Also, the college I’ll be attending has an equestrian team that I plan to join, and they compete so I plan to participate in that.

9. Favorite horsey memory?

I was in Lady Lightning’s stall and I had a bag with a camera in it to take a picture of her. I was looking in the bag for the camera and she walked up to me, looking for food of course. I said “I don’t have any food. See?” I asked and I held open the bag for her to see for herself. She stuck her whole face in the bag, looking for food.

10. Favorite non-horsey pastime?

Reading. I love reading. I’m supposed to be getting “Carrie” and Tyra Bank’s book. My favorite genre is fiction as you may have assessed. I also like shopping. That’s one of the reasons why I’ll be a good interior designer. If shopping were a sport I’d be in the Olympics. 2016, baby!

11. Goals for this year?

To spend as much quality time with my friends and family before I leave for college. I want to have good relationships with everyone before I leave because I want their love and my memories of them to carry me through these next four years and still have good, strong, and healthy relationships when I come back. I also want to pass this upcoming test to graduate and survive this three hour a day math class that meets three days a week that I have coming up… Pray for me.

OK. So “Some Fabulous Chick’s Blog.” is all about real beauty, fashion, quotes, design, discovering who I am, creating who I want to be, and some other random things. So in honor of everything (including the randomness) that my blog is about, here are my questions/ requests for my nominees:

  1. Name a random thing in your room.
  2. Name a random thing in your purse/ bag or man purse.
  3. Name your favorite feature. Physically and personality wise.

  5. What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
  6. What’s the best advice you’ve ever given?
  7. Best gift you’ve ever gotten? Tangible and not tangible.
  8. Tell me about the best moment in your life.
  9. Why do you blog?
  10. And now, for my Oprah question, who are you?
  11. And now, for my me question, what makes you fabulous?

  7. Fear and Loathing in Chicago
  8. Dressage Different
  9. Toes In, Heels Down

  11. A Gift Horse

OK, babes.

The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and is tune is heard
on the distant hill for the caged bird
sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
an the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings

I think I know why the caged bird sings…

… it’s because her sweet, sweet song is her salvation, her escape, her only hope that she may one day be free.
